Zéphyr : Trimaran with electrical propulsion

Let yourself be taken by ZEPHYR: the electric boat  designed by Yannick Wileveau, naval architect, and made completely in France.

A day-boat of 5,30 m, zero program: SIMPLE, SILENT, ENVIRONMENTAL with a completely integrated design.

With Zephyr, you will sail in a sporting way and spend 1 € for 40 nautical miles of pleasure:

The advantage of the trimaran hull is to restrict the consumption of energy while maintaining comfort and maneuverability. It was conceived to use least possible energy at a cruising speed  of 5 knots, the speed best adapted to the observation of fauna and flora of our shores.

The outboard motor 2 or 4 kW is fixed on the picture delay and return guide cables and electrical under the driving hood.

From 2012, Zephyr will be equipped with a new innovative inboard motor (potency 4 – 10 kW).

Batteries are firmly fixed on a floor in the bottom of central hull and do not require visual control, nor maintenance. An airtight hatch closesoff the battery compartment at the level of the platform.

The lead-based battery weighs 200 kg and has a life of 10 years based on 50 trips per year. It does not require particular service. The only thing to check is the long-term stocking (> 2 months).

The battery based on Lithium weighs 68 kg and has a life of 10 years based on 150 trips per year. It does not require particular service and can be stocked with any level of load.

The loader is located under the steering panel. The level of  load of batteries is available for consultation at any time since the interface of control is located near the steering wheel. A tool of navigation shows the speed of the boat at any time. You will be able to motor  for 8 hours at 5 knots.

 

 

To recharge batteries, you need only moor  Zephyr close to an electric connection on the quay, or in the garden if the boat is towed. A 15-metre extra cable is provided for the recharging  at the quay on standard equipment which you will find in most harbours.

The modularity of Zéphyr

The technical elements fit to different versions thanks to our adjustable platform ZIP (Zephyr Innovative Platform).

You can customize Zephyr according to your needs up to any level of comfort.

 

Central Seat Version : provided with a big storage chest. They adapt on the back a suntop which allows one to stretch out comfortably.

 

 

 

Version lateral seats: It is the version which gives most area on the platform because seats are folding in ‘foldaway seats ‘. This allows one to install a  picnic table,  tackle, or diving gear for your free time.

This version allows the access for disabled persons in a manual wheelchair.

 

 

Rigid solar roof: Both when moored and navigating, solar panels provide energy batteries (about 10 – 20 % of the capacity of your battery). Shade cast by the solar roof will protect your crew from too much sunshine.

The advantages of this boat which make the difference

 

Its dynamic design, its silence, almost no need to service, the high longevity of the Li-PO or Pb batteries, the ease of use (accessible to all, without license) and certainly, the economy, owing to the absence of combustible fuel.

You will be able to recharge Zephyr in many ways:  for 1 € on the pontoon which takes  4 hours for a full load.

Solar panels as optional which will be able to recharge your batteries in « slow reload  » during 5 days – the 100 % environmentalist option!

The expense of maintenance of the electrical boat is minimal. You will have no more need of reviews, driving regulating and other expensive servicing.

The purchase price of Zephyr is identical to that of a thermal boat of the same size motor – 50 CV. Besides, the life of an electric motor is longer than that of a thermal motor (in the order of 30 000 hours of functioning).

The electric motor gives a performance comparable to a thermal boat. Electrical motorization issues the couple down with regime instantly. So, the craft propeller screws together in water without eddy, quietly and enables you to maneuver easily.  

For free time, Zéphyr will be able to be simply installed with equipment adapted to your desires and your needs up to  any level of comfort.

The anchor compartment  is in the front and the access from the cockpit is made easier to allow you to anchor in the nicest bays.

 

 

Robust and simple equipment to maintain  (hulls, seats, lateral tabular ledgers and  windshield) puts this within easy reach of customers who are interested in a new type of boat, for trips from one hour to the whole day. With a 530 kg weight, you will have no difficulty getting the boat in water.

This boat will also attract professionals (hire companies, local authorities, town halls) who will find numerous advantages in this innovative concept that can take wheelchairs for the persons with reduced mobility.
